Radon - What is it and how can it affect my health?
Radon is an odorless, tasteless and invisible gas produced by the decay of naturally occurring uranium in the soil and water. Radon is a form of ionizing radiation and, according to the EPA, all major and national and international organizations that have examined the health risks of radon agree that it is a carcinogen. Lung cancer is the only known effect on human health from exposure to radon in the air. Exposure to radon in the home causes an est. 20,000 lung cancer deaths each year and is the 2nd leading cause for lung cancer. Radon is a health hazard with a simple solution.
How do I know if you have it in my home?
Radon can be detected by a simple test that is placed in the home. The test is a real-time, continuous monitor that provides instant results once the test time has lapsed (48-hours). Doug provides the service of professional and certified testing to consult with the homeowner on options to lower radon levels below 4.0 pC/l (per the EPA guidelines) that will make living safer.
How do I get rid of it?
The simple solution: Doug will install a radon mitigation system in your home to lower radon levels below 4.0 pC/l. The active system is proven to minimize levels at the source. Once the system is installed, a second test will be performed to confirm the lowered radon levels in the home.
